Story Excerpt

Putting his hands up in surrender Antonello said, "Hey I meant no offence. I am honestly here to help. I will even start by saying this, "Antonello began as he looked at Quad, "You must eat red meat Quad.  It is the only way to truly control your beast."

Shaking his head Quad said, "I must be defective then, because whenever I eat even the smallest of  red meat I get uncontrollably angry."

Shaking his head Antonello asked, "That will only happen if you over cook your meat."

When the man saw Quad's confusion he thought a minute and then said, "Think about it like this.  You are teasing your beast. What happens when someone teases you for a bit too long.  Then you eat a small amount of meat and you won't feed him.  You are teasing him and he reacts.  You need to feed your beast or you will anger him, cause him to react and bring attention to yourself.  You bring attention to yourself and then the Council sees it and then they order your death.  Which is exactly why Lonny wanted me to turn you and then leave you on your own."

Quad looked at Antonello baffled, "I don't understand."

Dropping in the seat next to him, Antonello said with a deep sigh, "Quad, Lonny wanted you changed.  He knew if you didn't know how to handle your beast, then you would make big mistakes.  Go on a killing spree and give the Council a reason to put you down and it looks like he might just have done it."

Quad pulled back in shock as he said, "What the hell are you talking about? I haven't killed anyone."

 "You were just in West Hollywood a few days ago.  A tourist bus was attacked and the entire group was killed. Fingerprints came back and they matched to yours." Antonello said.

"What the fuck! I wasn't anywhere near West Hollywood a couple of weeks ago. I was in Phoenix, on a business trip.  Hell that is where I bought my new car." Quad gasped.

Nodding his head, Antonello said, "Yeah I know.  I've been following you. The problem is that the Council doesn't know that."

"So we just tell them and show them the purchase date of the car." Gypsy yelled, as he threw five hamburgers on the grill.

"I don't think that is going to work." Antonello said as he shook his head.

Growling, Quad snapped, "Why the fuck not? I wasn't in West Hollywood and there is no way in hell I would have killed those people even if I had been."

When Gypsy set the plates down on the table in front of him, Antonello picked up his rare burger and took a big bite as he hummed his approval, he garbled, "That may be, but you don't seem to get it."

Taking a sip of water that Gypsy had put in front of him, Antonello said, "Lonny is on the Council."
